As I sit here awaiting the one hour to an hour and a half trek back to San Diego, I can only wonder where did my summer go. I suppose going home for a few days… going back to SD to work there ALL summer… and then going back home a few days may feel like an incomplete summer, but in retrospect it really wasn’t that bad.
I suppose if I stayed at home all summer instead of doing some sort of work, I would have been really bored within 2-3 weeks. I’m not looking forward to classes starting, but I AM looking forward to seeing members of my SD family.
That brings me to what I learned this summer, living on my own – starting anew, with no friends at the start of my summer at San Diego. I learned how to 1) Boil hot water 2) Cook eggs, pasta, make sandwiches, noodles, rice, etc. and 3) Wash dishes but more importantly 4) Survive and sustain a life independently of the bonds which have tied me down for so long. I plan to fully flesh out my plans for next year, and carry out to create a more balanced, whole-heartily happy person with goals and desires that will advance me to a great career post-graduation.
As far as my summer back home goes, I quite enjoyed it. It occured in the midst of the Kanye West-Taylor Swift controversy, which I feel has benefited the career of Taylor Swift, while only hurting Kanye’s (but it definitely a huge publicity stunt….
As far as my summer here goes, I hung out with a few friends, played poker, watched a movie called 9 (Which was really strange and weird at the same time), went to Disneyland and went on some of the less kiddish rides this time and…
– Now I’m going to let you finish… but Beyonce had one of the greatest videos of all time –
And a reunion at Harry’s that was complete with seeing people I hadn’t seen all summer (although I wish 60 people would have actually shown up. I am ready for SD, and this time, I won’t be going home as much, cause I really have nothing except friends to go home to. 🙁
