Spring Quarter ’10 April 2010 Updates

As promised, instead of “weekly updates” this quarter I am providing a comprehensive list of “monthly updates”, starting with the month of April.

April in essence was a decent month. Starting off the month with a holiday (April Fool’s), is always good, regardless of whether or not you would consider it an actual holiday! But I ramble on…

So here, in picture form is a comprehensive pictorial form of my month:

Regardless of whether or not you see the convoluted mess I call a calendar, I’ll give some thoughts regarding my courses this quarter. As previously mentioned, I dropped Asian-American history because I found it a dull subject, and I wasn’t really too eager to write a 10-page paper about a topic I didn’t care about.

HIUS150 [American Legal History]. Like. Professor is a bit dull at times, but I find the particular subject matter very interesting.

HIEU117A [Greece & the Balkans History]. Like. History is interesting, but I find it extremely hard to memorize obscure Greek names like “Mavrogordatos” and “Ipsilandis”.

COCU100 [Intro Communication/Culture]. Dislike. Professor is dull. Class clearly leans to the left way too blatantly (seriously, a 7 page paper on the Compton Cook-out?)

COHI134 [Communication/Human Interaction]. Dislike. Professor is chill but doesn’t convey very clearly what he wants us to learn. Also midterm was very obscure both narrowly and… not so much.

Enough about classes, let’s talk about television!

24 is still going on, and I’m quite sad by the fact that it’s ending next month (Series Finale: May 24th on FOX). It’s Jack Bauer vs. the world, but more importantly, Jack Bauer vs. Chloe this time, which should make things interesting as we head towards the finale. Charles Logan ! Man, you just love to hate him. BUT, regardless of how the show ends, it’s going to set things up immediately for the movie.

Glee is good as always, but I feel like they should feature Rachel Berry more. Of course, she was in a cupcake in the previous episode, so I probably shouldn’t complain. Kurt’s been getting on my nerves lately, but most of the characters do at some point. Also, I don’t like the manwhore direction that Will Schuester is heading towards as well.

American Idol. Lee Dewyze must win, he’s my favorite. The only other possible contender I see winning honesty is Crystal Bowersox, but I really want Lee to win. Here’s a video of my favorite performance from him:

What other possible topics to cover? Well, in terms of living arrangements for next year I’m most likely going to live with Kunal, Amul, and Steven in Warren college! Yes, how?! I got housing by being ICRA VP for Warren, but subsequently I’m going to have to attend training in early September (which I really don’t mind), and NACURCH2010 (which I’m actually looking forward to): June 21-June 24.

I’ve also been continuously listening to Relient K and Michelle branch, in preparation for SunGod – which reminds me: the 1 year anniversary (of this blog in particular[not my high school one]) is coming…. So exciting, well maybe not that much.

Finally, I think a positive attitude in the end brings you might more than a negative one. If you truly want to be happy, you can be happy. Thinking is believing?

I’ll end with some lyrics:

Bye bye Ms. American Pie!
Drove my chevy to the levee,
But the levee was dry,
Them good ole’ boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singing this’ll be the day that I die.
