Now that the horrors of elementary and middle school was over, it was time to enter an American Horror Story. This was quite an interesting year, which I don’t have any pictures of unfortunately (Oh well). I was a part of the Freshman Advanced Curriculum Team – which was an honors program in high school – where we ended up having classes with the same group of people.
Here’s the high school caste system (according to me), made during my freshman year:
I don’t have many posts from freshman year. I mean, I did, but I ended up deleting them off my blog…. so they’re unfortunately gone forever. Here’s what I wrote last summer regarding freshman year.
9th grade: High school begins, and so does the Freshman Advanced Curriculum Team. Maybe I was a little immature at the time, but I decided to have two wars during this year. WOW! A whole two wars, against 2 of my current closest friends – Howard Nguyen (future roommate) & Jonathan Elizalde (future UCSD class-mate). They are really nice guys, and I kind of regret declaring war on them. However, it’s all in fun, cause now we can look back and laugh at the whole thing.
I declared war on Howard because I thought he supposedly hacked into my computer to steal a study guide I wouldn’t send to him because he called my friend a stupid slut (Sara) after she almost overdosed on painkillers.
I declared war on Jonny because I had a crush on someone (MacKenzie), and told him not to tell her, but he decided to tell the world through a riddle.
All in fun. I realize it was Freshman year, and I probably shouldn’t have taken things too seriously.
I talked to 0 girls in fact this year. My communication-with-the-opposite-gender skills were horrible. My social skills were horrible. Eventually, because of the final FACT project, I was able to talk openly with Tran Tran & Kathy Van, who opened the door to end my shyness.
Anyway, that’s pretty much the gist of what happened Freshman year. I can’t expand any more because I lack various primary sources from that era.
I must add, I also created lots of study guides freshman year – as well as FACT groups…. Yahoo, MSN, Myspace, Smartgroups – you name it! However, they’re all deleted except one. I’ll share the yahoo groups one just for fun.
The rules of the group were as follows:
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 4TH, 2005: 6:55 PM
1. No spamming the message boards… (1 Strike)
2. No uploading homework assignments, or anything as cheating – For example, INDEPENDENT STUDIES OR ANYTHING OF THAT SORT (2 Strikes)
3. No uploading pictures that have nothing to do with FACT (1 Strike)
4. No writing cuss words in message boards (1 Strike)
5. No askign for study guides a million times in a row… I FREAKING KNOW..
6. No making weird polls…. that have nothing to do wtih FACT (1 Strike)
7. No adding crappy links to places that have no sense in FACT (1 Strike)
8. No irritating or disrepectful to anyone in FACT – me, peers, and fact teachers (1 Strike)
9. Don’t give study guides to anybody else (1 Strike)
10. Don’t remove the Copyright John Tran (C) All Rights Reserved tag..(1 1/2 strike)
11. No liking FACT because all the FACT teachers are crap
EVERYONE FROM HERE ON OUT GETS A CLEAN SLATE… IF YOU DO SOMETIME WRONG YOU GET A STRIKE… IF YOU GET THREE SPACES I WILL BANN YOUR ACCOUNT FOREVER
Yes, it looks like I was angry. I didn’t really mean any of what I said. However, these rules were written immediately after (or very close to after), the incident of the Time Machine project – where I got a 4 on the time machine project. I was quite upset over that at the time and vented my anger through internet message boards. I seem to okay with it now though. Sorry, Mr. Durand! 🙂

3. THE FACT TEACHERS DON’T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT ANY OF THEIR STUDENTS…THEY JUST LIKE PUNISHING FOR SHIT

today in mr. durand’s class everytime he looked at me i looked angrily at him…. i think that hurt him a little bit but he deserves it… i think… also i made a lot of noises sounding as if i was irritated when he said stupid stuff or if i wanted to express my feelings..
i hate durand because:
1) he gave me a 4 on the FACT project when I deserved a 10
2) he can’t control the class and takes the whole period to teach easily taught in 10 minutes
3) he uses “videos” and “contracts” and never goes over the main standards and teaches them.. he just assumes we somehow learn it randomly by doing him contract work
i hate daniels because:
1) she is so paranoid about cheating
2) she gave me a 4 on the FACT project when I deserved a 10
i hate martin because:
1) essays are too hard
2) he gave me a 4 on the FACT project when I deserved a 10
3) he once accused me of doing outlines for an essay with Jamal
so the war against FACT begans now
if you haven’t heard this is my plan for war:
1. IF ANY FACT TEACHERS SAYS HI TO YOU YOU MUST IGNORE THEM
2. WHEN A FACT TEACHER LOOKS AT YOU YOU MUST LOOK ANGRY AND MAD AT THEM
3. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BUT NEVER COMMUNICATE OR TALK TO ANY FACT TEACHERS BECAUSE THEY ALL ARE PIECES OF **** THAT CAN ALL BE ****ING GONE AND DEAD AS FAR AS I’M CONCERNED… and then that’s my war… if it works i’ll make the FACT quit their job for i don’t give a crap about FACT anymore

For Alg II / Trig, we have problems 2-44 Evens on page 399.
We will also be having a test on next Tuesday (2/15/05)
We are currently learning about exponential functions and their inverses A.K.A logarithms (Chapter 5.2)
Now for the gossip :
Today, it has been rumored that Kevin, an innocent FACT student was hiding from a group of gangster like asians. This was because Kevin felt threatened and the asian mob kept staring at Kevin.
There has also been a rumor that Ricky may be the smartest FACT student but is too busy making jokes and wasting his time.
People also believe Ricky and Kat are having an affair. The flirting took place in Biology on 2/9/05. They flirted through the actions of hitting eachother affectionately.

A SLIGHT BLUNDER CAUSED MR. DURAND TO KNOW THERE WAS A STUPID AND BAD COMMENTS ABOUT HIM WERE IN IT, HOWEVER HE DIDN’T FIND OUT WHAT SO HE JUST SAID “NOW JOHN KNOWS WHO HE CAN TRUST IN THIS CLASS” THIS WAS DUE TO MR. DURAND SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT ME THAT I FORGOT
