Hey everybody, it’s me again! You must be really tired of me by now. Anyway, this posts will be divided into 2 parts, a television section, and then a “what’s new for next year” section.
Television
On Monday, 24 had its season finale. The finale emphasized drama over action this year, and was probably one of the most emotional moments in 24 history. Hopefully the show is back in the running to get an emmy this year, cause Kiefer Sutherland certainly deserves one (although, not for head-butting).
On Tuesday, I watched American Idol. I really want Kris Allen to win. It’s been a while, but certain winners that I wanted to win have won, and certains haven’t. For instance, I wanted Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and David Cook to win. I also wanted Blake Lewis to win… but suffice to say he didn’t. Hopefully, the Adam-Mania is over-exaggerated and overhyped and Kris Allen ends up winning. One can only hope. I certainly voted. Finally, the GLEE premiere was yesterday, and it was beyond cute/funny. Every part of the show seemed to fit. High school is definitely a “caste system”. I really want to get to know all the characters. New episodes, unfortunately, return in the fall.
Next year.
I have enrolled in and chosen my classes for next year. Let’s just say, they’re okay. This is what it’s looking like so far:

As you can see, I’m not too happy with the random COHI100 inserted right there, but eh…. there’s nothing I can really do about it. As far as the details of my classes, here’s what they are:
POLI 27: Ethics and Society (4) (Same as Phil. 27) An examination of ethical principles (e.g., utilitarianism, individual rights, etc.) and their social and political applications to contemporary issues such as abortion, environmental protection, and affirmative action. Ethical principles will also be applied to moral dilemmas familiar in government, law, business, and the professions. Satisfies the Warren College ethics and society requirement. Prerequisites: CAT 2 and 3, DOC 2 and 3, MCWP 40 and 50, Hum. 1 and 2, MMW 2 and 3, WCWP 10A-B, or WARR 11A-B.
HILD2A: A year-long lower-division course that will provide students with a background in United States history from colonial times to the present, concentrating on social, economic, and political developments. (Satisfies Muir College humanities requirement and American History and Institutions requirement.)
LTWL 176: Literature and Ideas (4) The course will center on writers or movements of international literary, cultural, or ideological significance. The texts studied, if foreign, may be read either in the original language or in English. May be repeated for credit as topics vary.
COHI 100: Introduction to Communication and the Individual (4) An introduction to theories of human mental processes which emphasizes the central role of mediation. The course covers methods of research that permit the study of mind in relation to different media and contexts of use. The traditional notion of media effects is critically examined in a number of important domains, including television, film, writing, and oral language. Prerequisite: COGN 20 or HDP 1, or consent of instructor. Offered spring quarter.
Anyway, housing signup was also yesterday. I got into the zero floor of Douglas. I didn’t know there even existed an underground floor. It’s apparently the only one, so it’s like a secret dungeon, which is kind of cool now that I think about it. All in all, I’m highly anticipating the fall – new housing, new schedule, & the return of Glee.
