Retrospective on Summer ’10

Much like last year, I’m going to write a blog that reflects my general feelings about this summer, in relation to last summer and all the summers before it.

Technically you could say my summer never started / ended, because for the most part I was doing something in San Diego the whole summer (I didn’t go home to Orange County for an extended period of time anyway, aside from a couple visits back home). However, I choose to do the retrospective today because ICRA training coincidentally ended today as well.

A general skeleton of my summer will be seen as follows:

Home to Orange County: June 11th – June 17th
Back to San Diego: June 17th – June 20th
NACURH: June 21st – June 24th
Summer Session 1: June 28th – July 27th
Summer Session 2: August 2nd – September 2nd
ICRA Training:  September 7th – September 17th

Thus, the whole gist of my summer has been school, work, and training. Not necessarily something totally fun, but summer still had some great moments (Weezer, Comic Con, etc.).

Summer wasn’t really that bad, and it was at least 10x better than last summer. More people I knew were here, and thus I had more people to hang out with. Cooking wasn’t the most fun thing in the world (like last summer), but it was a little better [mostly because I ended up eating out more cause I could afford it technically]. I’m disappointed I wasn’t able to stay in Orange County for that long – not even really a week or so…. But I guess if I plan to live there the rest of my life I better soak up all the San Diego fun I can for now, right?

Anyway, live life with no attachments. ICRA Training was good, and relatively straightforward, and I’m excited for what next year will bring to me! I love everyone on the executive board. This will be my 3rd year on campus, living with Amul, Steven, and Kunal. I can tell already it’s going to be a fun year with the amount of people that come over every night.

Whatever challenges confront me this year, I’ll be sure to battle it straight on. This year will be my year.
