This day was a culmination in essence of just simply, lots of busy work. I woke up, did P90x, and then went to the Communication Department (inside the Comm/Media) building in Marshall to pick up a Special Studies Project. I plan to do a 199 class, which involves researching directly with the professor. Hopefully I’ll be able to find one to do it with, in an effort to get both better acquainted with a professor and in effect achieve the ability by which to attain letters of recommendation. Speaking about classes, I’m not sure which other classes I’m going to take, but my registration is roughly in a week at 8 AM. I’ll provide more updates on my class schedule at that point.
I then went to the History Department (located on the 5th floor of HSS in Muir), but they didn’t have a Special Studies form to fill out, so I think I’m going to have to either email the department or make an appointment with the faculty advisor working there. We’ll see. I then had lunch at Round Table, went to class, and then went to work – where I accidentally left my keys there. I’ll have to show up tomorrow at 8 AM to claim my keys, and to perhaps drive the carts through the carwash and check their tire pressures. FUN! I then went to class, where the professor told us the video games midterm had an average of 60%. Uh Oh, I hope that doesn’t mean I did poorly….
I then went to have dinner at Pines with Bijan, and Amul . Bijan literally went through 3 plates of food; it was quite amusing to watch. After was my big ICRA presentaton at the 11th floor of Tioga Hall. When we arrived, there was already a group in there who thought they had reserved the room for that time. The lady who opened the door was scary, and rude (perhaps a female version of the ICRA president in real life form?). After some clarifications and calendar checking, we finally got the room, and I presented my Life Lessons from the Tortoise and the Hare to BeeJohn, Geetha, Amul, Charlene, and Yammi. I wish Rashika was there also though, that would have made things super fun! Anyway, the life lessons to be learnt in summary for all of you that didn’t attend are: The fast and consistent will always beat slow and steady; work to your competencies; pooling resources and working as a team will always beat individual performers; never give up when faced with failure; & finally, compete against the situation – not against a rival.
We all walked back to Warren, and the PAW meeting was subsequently after. Me, Matt, Lauren, and Amul then proceeded to Earl’s where I ordered a milkshake. Leah made one for me, and it turned out quite nice – my picture of the day because it was labeled specifically for me and tasted delicious. It was a chocolate banana milkshake custom-made to order and custom-made for my taste buds. Yum. I ended the night typing up notes for my class for my quiz on Friday. Hoorah.
