The end of the week is near, which also means, the three-day weekend is coming! And one of the better holidays in America: President’s Day (which fortunately honors all the good and BAD presidents, as well). Unfortunately, most of my friends are going home, but I’ll make do with what I have here at UCSD at my disposal. I woke up today in a rather good mood at a rather early time. I went to work, and actually worked for a decent amount of time, finishing my highlighting, scanning a couple of documents, and most importantly getting my timesheet signed by my boss in an effort to get paid for my efforts. I had a relatively interesting conversation with a fellow student worker by the name of John Cueller. Unlike ICRA, whose stipend I am still waiting for, EH&S actually gives me my money like they say they would. Oh well. After work I turned in my Orientation Leader application in EBU. I hope I get the position… I would love to be the one thing that can dramatically affect a freshman’s opinion of college as they gather their first impressions of it (hopefully in a positive way).
When I got back to Warren, I watched the American Idol Hollywood week episode, which was quite as bland as I had expected. Nobody this year has yet to grasp my attention. Granted though I did fall asleep in the middle of the episode. I also played Kingdom of Loathing for roughly an hour, until I ran out of moves. Apparently our assignment for my Video Game Studies class is to get to a certain level in a game that would be equivocal to 10 hours of gameplay. I highly doubt it as I’m at level 3 right now, and just need two more levels to reach my destination of 5. It was funny when a student asked in class whether we could use “gold farmers” to help us level up. The T.A. said yes, as long as we could document how we did it (basically condoning the illegal activity). Shrug. In between I also ordered a camera from Best Buy which will ship sometime next week, so I’m excited for that $60 dollar discount (with free shipping too)! I then proceeded to Foodworx where I ate dinner with Geetha. We had a nice conversation. I went to class after, and ironically we talked about “gold farmers” in class. I hate it when my classes overlap like that…. it can make me start mixing up my information. After that, I saw Baby V.Payne at Warren waiting for Tyler, so I waited for her for a bit so she wouldn’t get accidentally get raped. Tyler came, I left, and went back to Warren for a bit.
Speaking of rape, it reminds of a pretty hilarious Justin Bieber interview I read today. Read it here: http://blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2011/02/justin-bieber-talks-abortion-politics-and-sex-in-rolling-stone.html Some notable quotes: “When later asked about political parties, Bieber says, “”I’m not sure about the parties, but whatever they have in Korea, that’s bad.” Rolling Stone then asks the 16-year-old if he believes in abortion when it comes to the matter of rape because that seems pretty appropriate to ask a 16-year-old: “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”HAHAHAHAH. I wonder why Rolling Stone would ask a 16-year old such obscure political questions, but so be it. It was an entertaining read.
The picture of my day comes from my next exhibit. Me, Lauren, Tyler, and V.Payne went to Ledden Auditorium where we got a taste of improv comedy in the form of Foosh. It wasn’t as funny as it was before, but it still quite a delightful two hours of free entertainment. We sat all the way in the back, and I took a picture that pretty much illustrates the angle I was watching everything at. At the end of the night, we all walked back, I went to play some “OMGPOP” games (formerally called Iminlikewithyou.com) online with Charlene, Yammi, and Geetha (ultimately losing most of the rounds). It literally gave me flashbacks to freshman year when I would play with Howard, Torrie Bear, Julie, Susan, Tiffany, and Michelle Kyong. GOOD TIMES. But Alas, they’re all gone now! 🙁
| Large protests have continued overnight in Libya following Thursday’s “Day of Rage” against the government. Thousands came out on to the streets of the eastern city of Benghazi and activists also set up camps in al-Bayda, eyewitnesses said. Confrontations between security forces and protesters left two dozen people dead and many wounded on Thursday, according to Human Rights Watch. This week’s protests are the first in Libya, where dissent is rarely allowed. I really hate to say this, but there’s a LARGE amount of protests over the last few weeks. Tunisia, Egypt, and now Libya. It could either mean one of two things: 1) Democracy is finally coming. or 2) 2012 will kill us all. (if worst dictators or terrorists come to power). | ![]() |

On February 17th, 1933, After many years of prohibition in the United States the senate passed the Blaine Act which would signal the end of prohibition after many dry years. I fully expect this to happen to Marijuana and perhaps other drugs in the coming years. Simply put, the War on Drugs is not working, and as Ron Paul tells us all wisely, it shouldn’t be up to government to enforce morals… it should be up to society as a collective whole (parents, teacher, etc.). |
P.S.: “There’s a lot of events, and a lot of opportunities for me to speak out over the next years and I have chosen not to. And the reason I’ve chosen not to is I don’t want to intrude upon my successor’s ability to get the job done.” – George W. Bush.
