Day 80: Bipolar Weather

March 21st, 2011

After I ate pho (leftover) and got a haircut with my daddy this morning, I went home and relaxed for a bit, before Earle invited me to Golden West College with him. We went to Wells Fargo for him to cash his check, and then Pizza Hut to ultimately eat, before going to his Physics class. [I snapped a picture of the nice looking clouds and the sunny weather, emergent from one of my wettest mornings ever. Bipolar weather.] It was the dullest thing ever, but it was nice seeing Albert Le again in class, and Justin Bouavanh in the parking lot. Me and Earle contemplated the possibility of creating a magazine business. After going home, I played on my computer for a bit before eating dinner with the family. Earle, Thiep, and I would all go to Paris Baguette and Starbucks to get some study snacks (for them, at least). I went ahead and DID not drink non-water, and subsequently got a snack at Starbucks. YUM. I ended the night in my house chilling, chatting, and web surfting as usual.

Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi’s momentum has stopped and rebels have been able to hold onto areas that government forces had been poised to capture just a few days ago, a U.S. official said Monday. Gadhafi has declared a cease-fire, the official said, and the coalition is watching carefully to see if that declaration "is a pledge or just words." An opposition spokesman said Monday there is no cease-fire, at least not in Misrata, a key city about two hours east of Tripoli. The spokesman, Mohamed — who would not divulge his last name out of concern for his safety — said the destruction there is "unimaginable" and that Misrata was bombarded heavily over the past four days by forces loyal to Gadhafi. "He keeps talking about a cease-fire, but he hasn’t observed that for one minute here," Mohamed said. UGH. GROSS. Change we can believe in, indeed.

On March 21st, 1939, Kate Smith records the patriotic song "God Bless America." It is still sung at some sports events and other celebrations in combination with the national anthem. YAY GO AMERICA <24. AMERICA <24.
