Day 87: The Prequel Adventures of Spring Quarter

March 28th, 2011

I spent the entire day in San Diego, as the “prequel” to Spring Quarter started today – meaning I spent the entire day at UCSD but classes didn’t officially start yet. (Empty Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule as of now). Spring Quarter does not officially start until classes start in my personal opinion. Four Tomorrow. How exciting. I happened to also find out on WebCT that one of my history classes (Americanization in Europe) happens to have 18 quizzes this quarter. Super exciting. That’s literally two quizzes a week, beginning on week 2. I would upload my class schedule, but I might add a 5th one [going to interview for an intership with the sustanability center as a 199 project this week.] I’ll keep you all updated, but let’s now venture into the details of my day.

I woke up, did P90x, and then headed immediately to work. I was kept busy a majority of the day by scanning things for my boss (which I found out I already had scanned…), and making file folders for a co-worker of mine. After work, I headed to Price Center to meet up with Bee-John. We talked about our Spring Break before heading to the bus stop to meet Rashika and Geetha. We were going to Westfield UTC, where I immediately snapped a picture. For what purposes? To eat of course! We went to Red Robin, which was delicious. YUM, Bottomless Fries. Immediately after, we went to GameStop, and Victoria’s Secret, before ultimately heading home. We sat in the back of the bus, one of the most comfortable places ever. It’s nice that the clique is still alive and STRONG. ICRA in two days. Hooray ?

I chilled at Geetha’s place for a bit, before ultimately headed back to Warren for a PAW meeting, where we debated great things… such as whether to buy donuts or churros. Shrug. After the longggggggg meeting, I headed to my Amy’s place (neighbors) to catch up. I saw Germaine, Angie, Rosario, Amy, and Jasmine as we shared details of our spring break and immediately after played Loaded Questons. Funny answers include “small boobs”, among other things. Jasmine didn’t really play, but she filled in for Angie when she was busy on the phone. Angie won, but I call foul to that since she wasn’t playing the entire game. It’s nice seeing my neighbors and hanging out with them, even if we do end up being too busy to hang out the majority of the rest of the quarter. After that small endeavor, I headed back to my apartment to ultimately end the night blogging, chatting, and finishing the movie Rear Window.

History
On March 28th, 1979, Radiation is released at Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station when a cooling plant malfunction releases radioactive steam and radiation near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, The authorities declare a general emergency but did not inform the public until five hours after the gas escaped. A study in 2002 found that incidences of cancer in the area were not significantly higher than elsewhere. This is still considered the worst nuclear incident in US history, but it should be remembered no deaths were attributed to the disaster. SAD TIMES. That’s why America is still afraid of nuclear power :(.
News
Republican presidential hopefuls wasted no time in lambasting President Barack Obama’s national address on Libya Monday night, taking to the airwaves to accuse him of failing to exercise American leadership or articulate a clear mission and end-game in the north African country. Sarah Palin professed herself “profoundly disappointed” in the “dodgy and dubious” speech. John Bolton called it “pathetic.” Rudy Giuliani said it only make things “murkier.” Donald Trump, the ultimate presidential tease, gave Obama credit for “trying hard” — before claiming the president is “a little bit afraid of Congress, frankly. He doesn’t want to go in too strongly because they’ll say that he broke his constitutional law.” Taken together, the comments by them and other potential Obama opponents were just the latest example of what’s been almost lockstep and fierce opposition to the president’s Libya strategy. At various times, Republicans have accused him of waiting too long to intervene, intervening too cautiously, failing to explicitly state that removal of Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi is a must, and ceding American leadership to other countries on the global stage. All the Republicans are wrong except for Ron Paul. WHY THE HELL ARE WE IN LIBYA?! 🙁

P.S.: Snorlax
