Day 110: <24 Free T-Shirts

April 20th, 2011

I love free t-shirts. Ever since high school when I went to community service events and got compensated through the form of t-shirts (of various different colors), I started loving them. Inevitably my collection of T-shirts has ultimately been more and more useless, as my clothing style has shifted from the wearing of T-shirts to the wearing of Polos. For today though I snapped a picture of myself shamelessly advertising for earth week. More details online @ earthweek.ucsd.edu

Today, I went to my two jobs as usual. SRC –> EH&S. At SRC, I updated Facebook, and looked for various articles to post for the new few weeks. At EH&S, I confirmed Phil’s plans for Friday with Katherine Dao, and was told to go to BSB to help one of my adult co-workers clean up a laboratory. Unfortunately she was not there, so my boss just subsequently told me to leave. I went to Foodworx, grabbed some food, and ate at Geetha’s place, before ultimately heading home, where I fixed my resume, went to Earl Warren’s birthday bash in Warren lawn (free cake!), and took a nap, intermittently talking to Amul in the process. Afterwards, we walked to ICRA (I skipped NRHH due to an extended nap), and the meeting was relatively short. After giving Lauren & Alex some Res-Council Ticket selling advice (due to my prior experience during the Knott’s Events), Nicole told me that Homeplate was going to cater the Price is Right event. Shrug. I left, ate at Goodies with Amul, Bee-John, Geetha, & Rashika, before heading to my place to “study” and call it a night.

History
On April 20th, 1999, Two students ( Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold ) wearing balaclavas go through Columbine High School in Denver, Colorado, firing automatic weapons and throwing homemade bombs killing 13 people and wounded 24 others before the two students committed suicide. They had originally planted two home made bombs in the cafeteria and were planning ok murdering the students as they ran from the building , when the bombs failed to go off they went into the school and began the massacre. SO SAD >:(
News
Barack Obama began his “town hall” event at Facebook’s offices on Wednesday with an anecdote.
“I hate to tell stories about Mark,” Obama said, referring to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg who was moderating the session. Like old friends, Obama launched into a brief retelling of a dinner party he had in February with the 26-year-old computer whiz and about a dozen other tech-industry elites in February. There, Zuckerberg sat to the president’s immediate right. “I’m the guy who got Mark to wear a jacket and tie,” Obama said, referring to Zuckerberg forgoing his usual T-shirt and hoodie ensemble. “Halfway through dinner, he’s starting to sweat a bit. It’s really uncomfortable for him. I helped him out of his jacket. In fact, if you want Mark, we can take our jackets off.” And so, like Obama has often done during less formal speeches, the president removed his coat, and Zuckerberg followed, revealing a dress shirt and black tie. (Though, he did wear sneakers.) HRM, I preferred the Bush-Zuckerberg interview.
