It’s the second day in a row I’ve used a boardgame to represent my day, but still I find the picture quite sufficient in being the highlight of my day. I woke up at 8 am to Matt’s phonecall asking where the heck transfer admit day was. I didn’t know – Amul & Kunal were confused too. Kunal checked online and said it would be happening at around 9:30 so I went back to sleep. Win. I woke up around 10, got ready, and was out there by 10:30 tabling with Matt, Alex, & Amul (PAW Table), Lauren (WTCC Table), and V.Payne (WAVE Table). In the process I started memorizing lines for the film I would be filming later in the day for my literature class(I ultimately failed in my futile attempt). I consumed quite a few delicious donuts while out there though.
Shortly thereafter, I met up with Matt Chow at Burger King in an effort to start our video project. Michelle also came, and we spent quite a sufficient amount of time talking while Matt was away getting light sabers with Harry. Tyler interrupted us at some point in our conversation, but by the time Matt and Harry came back, we proceeded to snake path to meet up with Tiffany. Then, we started filming. I was reminded of my terrible acting skills, but my running skills in a field of daisies apparently wasn’t too bad. Filming took definitely longer than I thought it would, and playing a character infatuated with a girl already in a relationship definitely struck some chords (of my high school past). The saddest part of the day? When filming a battle scene outside of Atkinson Hall with lightsabers, instead of using my lightsaber to poke Harry’s hat off, I accidentally poked him in the eye. FAIL. FAIL. FAIL. I felt so guilty, but he seemed okay minutes after the tragic incident. When we were all done, we finished filming Harry’s camera scenes in Tiffany’s apartment, before I left.
I guess I considered the previous portions of the day as all “work”, now awaiting the “play” of my day. I met up Geetha at Foodworx, ate, and then later we would proceed back to my apartment to watch the Colbert Reports and lots of delicious Ron Paul videos. Amul came in and out intermittently and made small talk with us. After waiting countless hours for Bee-John he finally came over, and we got our game of Monopoly on. At the beginning, it seemed as though Bee-John was in a hopeless position – but he made a deal with Amul that ultimately guaranteed everybody’s possession of a monopoly. At one point in the game I was the most powerful possessinga pink monopoly, and deciding not to switch any of my houses into hotels in an effort to prevent anyone else from buying houses. My game tragically ended though with the landing on Marvin Gardens, which secured Geetha’s fate as ultimate winner. She took a picture of all the money she had. Damn capitalist. Just like in the game of Risk yesterday, I came in third – Bee-John losing before me, and Amul losing right after me. Geetha had won. We played some Bang, and then the night was over.

| On May 7th, 1950, Levitt and Sons, Builders announced a 2,000 home rental community at Island Trees Later Becoming Levittown, Hempstead, Long Island, New York ideal for GI’s returning home following the end of World War II, the project used a new type of construction based on mass-production housing never used before, due to the prefabricated design they could build 30 houses a day. Following the success of the project they announced a further 4,000 homes which would be for sale not rental, offering ownership on a 30-year mortgage with no down payment and monthly costs the same as rental. After two years they began offering a larger home “a ranch house” 32 feet by 25 feet ( 800 Sq Ft ) for $7,990. The concept was copied all over the United States and modern suburbia was born. IRONIC, cause I’m learning about this in my Americanization of Europe class. |

| Keenly conscious of his image, a graying Osama bin Laden no doubt never expected this video — showing him hunched over, draped in a blanket and using a television clicker — to hit the world’s airwaves as it did Saturday. Filmed by a confidant, the al Qaeda leader contrasts with the younger version of himself on a TV screen a few feet away. That man has a more youthful beard, a hand held up in resolve and a photo of the burning World Trade Center. U.S. officials, who Saturday released five videos, emphasized the recordings and other materials seized at bin Laden’s Pakistan compound show the terrorist still had a firm hand at the tiller, managing strategic and tactical control of his organization, even as he stayed out of sight in Abbottabad. SCARY. |
