Day 179: Film, Film, & Math

June 28th, 2011

Today was yet another day at ThinkTogether, and subsequently another day of teaching. I bused to campus (GRRR SUPER CROWDED BUS. I felt nauseous standing up), went to EH&S, and bused to Waigenhaim, walking a different route to reach the correct side of the school. Today was okay, minus the fact that after choosing the schedules all us program leaders chose yesterday, our site coordinator decided to give us all a new schedule, and subsequently we were all told to teach things we weren’t given lesson plans for. SAD TIMES. Turns out I won’t be teaching fulcrum anymore the rest of the summer, but instead teaching two film courses and one math class EVERY SINGLE DAY. JOY. Which means I have to bring my laptop, EVERY SINGLE DAY. I went to my class to prep, and immediately afterwards to oversee a new group: Group 3.

Period 1: I taught Film to Group 3, and they were relatively rowdy. Having not brought a computer because I thought I wouldn’t need to, I had no film clips to show them, so I subsequently improvised. I made them draw a picture of their favorite movie, and then made them present a silent film clip to the rest of the class. Afterwards we played heads up seven up, rock paper scissors with the entire class, and then played a trivia game with them. Apparently, nobody knows or cares about our second president. Poor John Adams. This class was pretty misbehaved I must say.

Period 2: I taught Math to Group 4, but because they already got the same exact math lesson I taught them yesterday, I made them play addition wars with cards, and also math trivia games with the entire class. Fun Fun Fun Fun?. This class was somewhat behaved.

Period 3: I taught Film to Group 2, and this group was very energetic and lively. They were at least very entertained by what I had prepared for them. The silent skit activity made them super excited, and playing heads up seven up made their day. Also, I got them to write stories and trade them with one another and continue them (A.D.D stories in other words). At the end of the day I was satisfied because one of the girls told me that was her favorite class of the day.

Afterwards we all signed out, and I bused back to campus, meeting Geetha at the library. I saw Victor while there, and we chatted for a brief bit. Me & Geetha bused back to Von’s, where I took my subsequent picture of the day. I bought eggs to make a delicate yet special recipe dinner of rice, spam, & eggs. DELICIOUS. Me and Geetha ate while talking to Lauren before I bused Geetha back to her place. After going home I was too tired to do laundry, and subsequently read “The Complete Directory to Prime Time Television” to bed.

On June 28th, 1919, Germany signs the Treaty of Versailles with the Allies, officially ending World War I. TOO BAD THEY STRIKE AGAIN >:(
News
Today in News: Here’s what Americans can look forward to if lawmakers fail to raise the debt ceiling in time: Treasury would not be able to pay between 40% and 45% of the 80 million payments it needs to make every month. That’s the estimate from a new analysis by the Bipartisan Policy Center, a think tank in Washington founded by four former Democratic and Republican Senate majority leaders. SAD
