In period 1, I taught film, showing clips of the Wizard of Oz and Casablanca, before telling them to make storyboards and scripts for their movie projects. This went relatively well. I would have hated doing group projects as a kid, being super shy and all, but I now realize the importance of being able to communicate with others. Period 2 was math, and the kids were a little rowdy, but somehow with the bribery of tickets, I was able to make them take a test passively as well as do worksheets for the rest of the period, offering such shameless rewards such as “first person who finishes gets to draw on the board, or second person who finishes gets to choose the next song to play on my Itunes!” The only difficulty I had was one kid who pretended to be stupid so he didn’t have to do any work. So tragic. Let’s be realistic, it’s extremely hard to make math fun, especially when the teacher himself doesn’t like it. In period 3, I taught film again, and the kids were even more excited than the ones in period 1. After leaving, I ate some Popeyes (TUESDAY SPECIAL DEAL YEEE)!
When I got back to campus, I rushed on over to Geetha’s place to hang out. We went to the Cyber Cafe for a bit so I could splurge on Internet usage, before proceeding to El Torito for Taco Tuesday where I took my picture of the day. I need to remember to never forget my camera again…. The food was decent though as we bumped into Tyler, Hermano, and Manuel as we were walking again. After some conversation, I departed back to my apartment, walking back and almost getting run over by a car. I ended the night Amish style – by doing laundry (electronically of course).
