Directly afterwards I proceeded to Geetha’s place and we talked for a relatively long time, before I headed home, where I WAS SUPER HAPPY TO ENCOUNTER what I’ve been missing for two weeks: INTERNET. It’s a super good thing because Big Brother returns in two days as well. I talked to Lauren for a bit who came out of her room, and then came with her to Los Primos so she could pick up some dinner. I took a picture of one of the video box games there, because it reminded me of Amul. SO SAD. Afterwards I departed to Geetha’s place to chill and do nothing for a bit, before going back to my apartment, talking to Tyler, and falling asleep.

| On this day in 1930, construction of the Hoover Dam begins. Over the next five years, a total of 21,000 men would work ceaselessly to produce what would be the largest dam of its time, as well as one of the largest manmade structures in the world. Although the dam would take only five years to build, its construction was nearly 30 years in the making. Arthur Powell Davis, an engineer from the Bureau of Reclamation, originally had his vision for the Hoover Dam back in 1902, and his engineering report on the topic became the guiding document when plans were finally made to begin the dam in 1922. | Republican Sen. Jim DeMint said he’s “disappointed” Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has not signed the “cut, cap, balance” pledge to slash spending and balance the budget. “I am disappointed,” DeMint said Wednesday on CNN’s “American Morning.” “We have to stop spending more than we’re bringing in.” Six GOP presidential candidates have signed the pledge so far. The Minnesota congresswoman argues it doesn’t go far enough to bring down the deficit. YAY. |
