Eating healthy is a tough way to live life, because it requires so much more work than just eating whatever the hell you want. I woke up in the morning and did some laundry before my friend Michelle came over. We watched 1 and a half episodes of the O.C. before our friend Robbie and his roommate Joey came over to pick us up. The destination? Phil’s BBQ. The meal? The El Toro, which was as delicious as ever. The line? Practically non-existent cause we went at 3 PM. We got back, where Robbie and Joey both dominated me at Tetris (sadly), and then watched a little bit of TV (in the form of a terrible Friends clip show episode). When they left, I chilled at home for a bit not doing much of anything. Later, I went to visit Amy & Rosario, watching them essentially eat. We went back to my place and watched some terrible Drew Carey improv show (which was much more inferior to Whose Line is it Anyway). We went to Von’s where I got the following groceries totalling 15 dollars (making me 3 days over-budget). I paid in all pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters (the leftover 1.69 being put on my Debit Card). It was hilarious putting everything in the machine. Hopefully all the food I bought will last me the next week (or if not, at least the next few days). As you can see in the picture I got bananas, eggs, Sunny D, rotissery chicken, corn, and munchies. All essential food groups are covered! Afterwards, I ate some rotissery chicken for dinner as well as some oven roasted corn as made by Amy. It was pretty decent except it sparked off the fire alarm. We played Monopoly afterwards with Amy beating out me, me beating our Lauren, and Lauren beating out Rosario. The four of us chilled and talked in Lauren’s room for a bit before Amy and Rosario left. We talked about a few more unimportant things before Tyler came back drunk to bother us. All in all, a good Friday night reminiscent of the events of sophomore year.

History
On this day in 1990, fossil hunter Susan Hendrickson discovers three huge bones jutting out of a cliff near Faith, South Dakota. They turn out to be part of the largest-ever Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton ever discovered, a 65 million-year-old specimen dubbed Sue, after its discoverer. Amazingly, Sue’s skeleton was over 90 percent complete, and the bones were extremely well-preserved. Hendrickson’s employer, the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research, paid $5,000 to the land owner, Maurice Williams, for the right to excavate the dinosaur skeleton, which was cleaned and transported to the company headquarters in Hill City. The institute’s president, Peter Larson, announced plans to build a non-profit museum to display Sue along with other fossils of the Cretaceous period. YAY I LOVE DINOSAURS.

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad nicely summed up the stakes of the Ames Straw Poll this week during a television appearance. “If you’re not the top three here, your chances of getting elected are not very good,” said Branstad, a veteran observer of Republican politics in the state. The consensus among Iowa GOP insiders is that Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and Texas Rep. Ron Paul will take the top three positions in Saturday’s vote. RON PAUL’S FUTURE IS AT STAKE HERE….

P.S.: CREST OF LOVE
