Day 260: Sickness is here to stay

September 17th, 2011
The resulting sickness I have accumulated over the past couple of days didn’t go away today, but that didn’t prevent me from doing things both inside and outside of the home (instead of being typical and oversleeping). I woke up in the morning sick and all, while hearing loud dryers buzz in the living room. Lauren and I decided to go get some delicious Pho in the afternoon because she was craving it, and because I thought some soup would be beneficial to my ailments. It did help a little as we got a chance to catch up ever since her departure for orientation. Afterwards she dropped me off at Alexis and Brittney’s place where I caught up with both of them, eventually helping Brittney frame one of her picture frames (in the area of the room I strongly advised her not to put it though). Alexis drove us to a gas station to get some gas before parking in a random town in Bird Rock. She wanted to walk around, and subsequently we did, gossiping and going into random stores such as a terrible organic bread store where the free sample made her want to throw up. I should mention we also went into a toy store which also happened to be a hair salon, charging 15 bucks for any baby under 15 months. EXPENSIVE, considering my haircuts back home are 6 dollars each. Some homeless guy tried to follow us creepingly as I snapped a nice picture of one of the benches. She would get a sandwich and carry it to the top of some random cliff where we would gossip for quite a while. While there, I felt quite proud to take a picture of a couple there, making their day ultimately better.

After dropping me off, I watched some television with Lauren, Rosario, and Tyler before Tyler left. The remaining three of us decided it was best time for dinner, so we proceeded to Wings N Things to get wings. Unfortunately, they ran out of breadsticks compelling us to choose a new destination – subsequently, after much driving around I got some Jack in the Box through the drive through, while the remaining two got Taco Bell. We went home and had a massive Glee Season 2 marathon – watching 4 episodes with Rosario, and 4 episodes without Rosario. By the end of the night it was 4 AM and I proceeded to sleep – but before I did I decided that it be best to try not to spend any more money on food the rest of the month. I plan on buying groceries TOMORROW. The end.

History
Beginning early on the morning of this day in 1862, Confederate and Union troops in the Civil War clash near Maryland’s Antietam Creek in the bloodiest one-day battle in American history. The Battle of Antietam marked the culmination of Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s first invasion of the Northern states. Guiding his Army of Northern Virginia across the Potomac River in early September 1862, the great general daringly divided his men, sending half of them, under the command of General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson, to capture the Union garrison at Harper’s Ferry. President Abraham Lincoln put Major General George B. McClellan in charge of the Union troops responsible for defending Washington, D.C., against Lee’s invasion. McClellan’s Army of the Potomac clashed first with Lee’s men on September 14, with the Confederates forced to retreat after being blocked at the passes of South Mountain. Though Lee considered turning back toward Virginia, news of Jackson’s capture of Harper’s Ferry reached him on September 15. That victory convinced him to stay and make a stand near Sharpsburg, Maryland. AHH THE CIVIL WAR.. BLOODY AND SAD. Necessary though? Debatacup.
