I went to the editing room with Geetha afterwards to do my “Psycho” clip editing assignment, where I snapped a picture of the editing room (which, by the way I can only enter with my special access ID Card). We ate Tapioca express and also listened to music while there, before getting our free drinks using our coupon codes from munchonme.com at Tapioca Express. Bee-John met up with us so we could all go to Geisel where I played the Sims, and the other two played Chess the entire time. When Geetha left for class, Bee-John and I went to a wonderful Young Americans for Liberty meeting where I met both Ankur and Cody. YEEEEEE. We got some delicious free fried chicken, salad, and macaroni & cheese in the process. When the meeting ended, we met up with Geetha to go to the final meeting of the day: ICRA.
The icebreaker was way too long, but the rest of the meeting was okay, as the club settled on some events including a Thanksgiving Dinner and a Haunted Halloween Trail. I’m probably most likely not going to go back anytime soon. When the night ended, me and Geetha proceeded to Burger King for dinner where Bee-John also got a free drink. We ended the night studying at her place.

| On this day in 1781, General George Washington, commanding a force of 17,000 French and Continental troops, begins the siege known as the Battle of Yorktown against British General Lord Charles Cornwallis and a contingent of 9,000 British troops at Yorktown, Virginia, in the most important battle of the Revolutionary War. Earlier, in a stroke of luck for the Patriots, the French fleet commanded by Francois, Count de Grasse, departed St. Domingue (the then-French colony that is now Haiti) for the Chesapeake Bay, just as Cornwallis chose Yorktown, at the mouth of the Chesapeake, as his base. Washington realized that it was time to act. He ordered Marquis de Lafayette and an American army of 5,000 troops to block Cornwallis’ escape from Yorktown by land while the French naval fleet blocked the British escape by sea. By September 28, Washington had completely encircled Cornwallis and Yorktown with the combined forces of Continental and French troops. After three weeks of non-stop bombardment, both day and night, from cannon and artillery, Cornwallis surrendered to Washington in the field at Yorktown on October 17, 1781, effectively ending the War for Independence. WHOOT, THE FIGHT FOR AMERICA!!!!!!! |

| Texas representative and Tea Party darling Ron Paul has been running a well-organized campaign within a relatively inept field of GOP candidates. For decades he has harangued our political class with a clear and consistent libertarian message. But since that message strays from the traditional two-party narrative strictly verboten in today’s media culture, his ideas are quickly dismissed as crazy. Among the likes of Perry, Bachmann and Santorum, he is the one declared as completely un-electable, simply because his ideas are so heterodox. But for someone (yours truly) who canvassed for then-Senator Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008, Paul has revealed himself to be the best choice an anti-war, pro-civil-liberties progressive has in the 2012 election. FOR SURE! |
