Day 332: Last Monday, New Backpack

 

November 28th, 2011Today was the last Monday of the quarter, which means no longer 2 3-hour classes in one day! I went to COGN150 where I had a marvelous presentation in front of the class. Afterwards, I went to Geetha’s place to hang out with her and eat some fried rice SIMULTANEOUSLY. It was also at that point that I got a fresh and shiny new backpack. Here’s to new beginnings to hallmark the near-conclusion of the quarter. I went to COMT100 class where I struggled to stay awake, but relatively inspired for my final project. I went to Geisel to download some videos for a bit before going home to eat dinner. I ate both soft boiled eggs with rice and a ton of bananas. When Tyler got home we watched Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-long Blog (which I had yet to see). I ended the night relaxing and reading Atlas Shrugged.

After sailing through the dangerous straits below South America that now bear his name, Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan enters the Pacific Ocean with three ships, becoming the first European explorer to reach the Pacific from the Atlantic. On September 20, 1519, Magellan set sail from Spain in an effort to find a western sea route to the rich Spice Islands of Indonesia. In command of five ships and 270 men, Magellan sailed to West Africa and then to Brazil, where he searched the South American coast for a strait that would take him to the Pacific. He searched the Rio de la Plata, a large estuary south of Brazil, for a way through; failing, he continued south along the coast of Patagonia. At the end of March 1520, the expedition set up winter quarters at Port St. Julian. On Easter day at midnight, the Spanish captains mutinied against their Portuguese captain, but Magellan crushed the revolt, executing one of the captains and leaving another ashore when his ship left St. Julian in August. LOL GOOD FOR HIM.

Herman Cain, whose status as a GOP presidential front-runner had already been rocked by allegations of sexual harassment, denied Monday that he’d had a 13-year, consensual affair with an Atlanta businesswoman. Ginger White told Atlanta local news station WAGA-TV that she had a sexual relationship with Cain that began in the late 1990s when he was president of the National Restaurant Assn. The affair ended shortly before he jumped into the presidential race this year, she said, but their friendship had continued. BAHAHAHAH NOOB.
