Day 362: From Boone to Bluegrass

December 28th, 2011
On the second day of Ron Paul camp, we all woke up in the morning all well-rested from sleeping in our log cabins (sarcasm). Upon seeing a huge line for the shower in the main bathroom, I snuck away to the wellness rest center, to take a decent 30-minute bath inside while everyone else was anxiously was waiting in line. After going to eat a small continental breakfast, we got some delicious pre-paid debit cards before sitting through a long drawn out lecture (which was meant primarily as a training session). This was all at the main lodge of the YMCA camp, which I conveniently snapped for my picture of the day. Eventually we got into our prospective cars and migrated from secret camp (Boone) to other secret camp (Bluegrass), where the log cabins ended up being better. We got some Mcdonald’s along the way which made me kind of want to vomit….. But eventually we reached out new cabins, got adjusted, and subsequently went to the main lodge to wait for our assignments. They allowed us to start hole punching and rubber banding Ron Paul brochures before I eventually snuck away to go phonebanking. After a half hour drive to Daverport, we eventually phonebanked for roughly 90 minutes before having pizza for dinner. We came back, had another meeting, before splitting up to our respective cabins to end the night abruptly.

History
On this day in 1895, the world’s first commercial movie screening takes place at the Grand Cafe in Paris. The film was made by Louis and Auguste Lumiere, two French brothers who developed a camera-projector called the Cinematographe. The Lumiere brothers unveiled their invention to the public in March 1895 with a brief film showing workers leaving the Lumiere factory. On December 28, the entrepreneurial siblings screened a series of short scenes from everyday French life and charged admission for the first time. TECHNOLOGY AT ITS BEST

On Wednesday, Kelly Clarkson took to her Twitter and Who Say accounts to write, “I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last Republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.” I LOVE HER!
