Being that graduation is right around the corner, I believe it’s now a sufficient time to rate every single lecture hall on campus.
Pepper Canyon: I’m just going to start off by saving I LOVE THE CHAIRS. Having the ability to swing around from left to right whenever you want (in an effort to perhaps stay awake) is a definite plus. The smaller classrooms are wonderful, while the bigger classrooms could perhaps use some work. Being that my workplace is also in Pepper Canyon, I would have to say it’s all in convenience for me to have a class there. Bathrooms could use some work though…
Rating: 9/10
Warren Lecture Hall: Good enough. I lived on campus for three years and a subsequent walk to Warren was not only a relief, but extremely easy to do so. I had bad timing though so I always somehow ended up to class 10 minutes early. Shrug. I like the overall design of the bigger lecture halls, being relatively new. The desks of the smaller classrooms though strike me as “ghetto” and disgusting. There’s gum underneath them, and they look both old and rundown.
Rating: 8/10
York Hall: I’ve honestly never had a class there, EVER. Seeing as how it’s so far away from Warren though I could see why people would hate it. From the amount of sheer friends that have told me they hate having classes in here (due to both how early it is, how far it is, and how bad the cell reception is) I have a tendency to believe them. Seeing as it’s in the OLDEST college, it’s perhaps the OLDEST lecture hall, and subsequently the worst.
Rating: 5/10
Peterson Hall: I hate walking up Peterson Hill. The bathrooms here are kind of gross. The classrooms too are actually kind of gross as well. FAIL BLOG.
Rating: 5/10
Solis Hall: This building is alright, although it’s also extremely rundown and disgusting. The overall interior of the building is extremely unattractive in my eyes, and subsequently provides for a good place to close your eyes (but not to pay attention and learn – the goal of being getting an edu-ma-cation).
Rating: 6/10
Humanities and Social Sciences Building: It’s like a maze. Whoever designed this building probably designed the Ralph’s parking lot. How complicated is it to make a building that actually makes sense structurally, and has relative ease for a student to locate a classroom? The interior is roughly the same as Peterson and Solis (aka ugly).
Rating: 6/10
Center Hall: Beautiful. I love the insides, I love the outsides. I love the random balls you can sit on outside the classrooms as well as the benches to wait for class if you come too early (which I did when I was a freshman, sophomore, and junior). It’s not too far from Warren either, which is a plus. Also, you can easily eat at Price Center afterwards if your heart so desires.
Rating: 8/10
Media Center and Communication Building: Overall a very attractive building (from the inside at least). The seminar rooms work, the editing room works, the bathrooms are clean, and the offices are nice. I do have to say the “social justice” artwork on the inside tends to be a huge turnoff.
Rating: 7/10
Ledden Auditorium: What can I say other than “decent”? It does its job of accommodating its students, holding them in, as well as providing the means for which Foosh shows to be held. I remember going to class 20 minutes early and waiting for class here though – the professor and students never showing up. When I left the room in frustration, I saw a sign outside saying “class was cancelled” posted outside of the door. (most likely posted after I already settled in). Fail.

What do you think is the best lecture hall?

Pepper Canyon’s seats are definitely a bonus. Not to mention their lecture halls don’t seat 10000+ students so it’s nice not having a huge class
In terms of a fair rating, York should be N/A since you yourself have never stepped inside (by chance you could have more friends who hate York opposed to ones who do). On the other hand, these are buildings not humans so it does not matter if the ratings are fair. I personally think the HSS area is nice. I like the canopies of trees. I would not be there at night though.
