June 2012 Updates

And so, it all ends. It just so happens to work out that the last day I happen to be in San Diego happens to be the last day of the month. What I’ve been “looking forward to” for the past few weeks and months (in terms of moving back home) has slowly deteriorated into both nostalgia and a longing to stay. The closer to the date of departure, the more sorrow that fills the depths of my immediate soul. Yet, I know in the end San Diego is not the city for me, and not where I want to end up, despite all the wonderful relationships and friendships I’ve made throughout the course of my journey here.

Goodbyes are particularly difficult for me. Though it may seemingly look like I don’t really care when I say “have a nice life” to people upon seeing them for the last time, it’s a nice way to mask the feelings that I’ve suppressed for so long. I know from personal experience that relationships don’t last unless there is reciprocation from both ends – which is why as I got closer to the end, my efforts to “initiate” slightly diminished if I saw any reluctance upon the opposite party. And yet I will miss mostly everyone – this month’s calendar hallmarking the last time I ever see each person in RED, appropriately enough.

Saying goodbye to Phil’s: Sadly enough, it was time to call it quits. Reaching 75 was an important milestone, though not at all necessary in the grand scheme of things.

Saying goodbye to Boardgames and all the wonderful adventures I’ve had with various different cliques on campus.

Saying goodbye to EHS: Alas, my workplace will be missed. All the countless hours on Facebook or doing various tasks (including the dreaded washing of carts) [including socializing with others] was as much a part of my college experience as anything else. Will miss both Doug and Lance! 🙂

The End of Glee Parties: There’s no knowing where I’ll be watching Glee in September – I just know it won’t ever be the same.

Saying goodbye to friends: The hardest part is letting go of the relationships that have defined you. But in the end even if neither side keeps “in touch”, the benefits from that said friendship in terms of both experiences and wisdom greatly outweighs the cons. In exactly one month (July updates), things are going to dramatically change. This blog will undergo both a reconstruction and simultaneously a resurrection (as I plan to post more in the upcoming months in my transitional state from college student to college graduate!).
