Day 2 of Comic Con was slightly disappointing, due to my inability to attain an autograph from the Glee Cast, OR attend their panel. I put all my eggs in one basket choosing a volunteer shift at 5PM, in order to be able to obtain autographs from the glee cast at 2:30. After showering and getting ready at Joyce’s (and nearly getting a speeding ticket from an officer), me and Earle parked closer to Comic Con this time (roughly 10 minutes away), arriving at roughly 7:30AM. We had to wait in line for roughly an hour though, but as soon as I obtained my “Saturday pass”, I rushed on up to the second floor to wait in the “Fox Raffle line”. The way it worked was that you go up to the booth you want to obtain autographs for (the choices: Family Guy, Fringe, Futurama, and Glee), and then pull a raffle ticket out of a box. Only a select percentage of actual tickets were “winning tickets” that could be used to later obtain autographs of the show in which you wanted. After roughly 15 minutes of waiting they announced in the line that the “Glee tickets were out”. My heart was broken. >:(. I stayed in line nevertheless and ended up winning a Futurama ticket… which I didn’t really care for much….
Being sad, I reunited with Earle, we went to the Marriot so he could get an expensive breakfast and so that we could obtain our ugly volunteer t-shirts (which I’ll most likely only wear to sleep). I then attempted to switch my volunteer shift early enough so that I could see the Glee Panel at 5PM. They gave me 2:30, which sadly wasn’t good enough. Me and Earle lined up at Ballroom 20 to attempt to see the Futurama, Simpsons, American Dad, or Family Guy panels – but the line was simply too long. Earle left to go volunteer, the friend I made in line decided to ditch his volunteer shift to get into the room, and I left 30 minutes after him to obtain my Futurama autographs. Still saddened, I went up to the booth and was reminded that Matt Groening created both Futurama and The Simpsons. Because The Simpsons remains one of my favorite childhood shows, it was nice to get an autograph and picture from its creator. Oh, and the Futurama autographs were nice too I guess….
I later went to volunteer upstairs at the Sails Pavilion. I had to basically tell people how to line up in a line (something basically an idiot could relay). It was nice getting to see how excited people were to get autographs from the cast of Mythbusters though… I snapped a picture of one of the main two as he “pretended to line up”. After my legs got sore, it was time to leave. I ended up being slightly less disappointed than before, but still saddened not having a picture with the Glee Cast. IT WILL HAPPEN SOMEDAY THOUGH I GUARANTEE IT (AS LONG AS THE SHOW DOESN’T GET CANCELED FROM SUB PAR PLOT-LINES).
Exciting things to note :
– People are annoying when they ask for our badges as we leave the convention center (does that really work????)
– Made lines with people in the Fox Line. What burned me more was the fact that they came at 5AM and had won the Glee Cast Raffle Tickets. Le Sigh
– Ate a pretzel corndog at the convention after nearly starving to death
– Person in front of us in volunteer check in line didn’t tell person behind him that he could simply get new badges quickly (and this subsequently stalled the line for 40 minutes)
– Volunteer Shift ended 45 minutes early due to lack of work!!!! *Fingers crossed that’s there nothing to do tomorrow.*
– Must go to Fox Booth around 11 AM tomorrow to get Glee posters!!!!! (among other things)
– Now have Simpsons and Futurama autographed posters to hang up (eventually when I get a room…)
– Person behind in Fox line after Glee tickets sold out: “ITS BECAUSE OF ALL THOSE TEENAGE GIRLS”. Sad, Sad Times.
– Person in Futurama autograph line had a huge metal Bender Head. So Cool.
– My legs are sore. The end.
– Encountered Jonny and friends in volunteer line
