December 2012 Updates

Alas, we’ve reached the end. From what started out as a rather weak or abysmal beginning of a year (January) delved into a rather hopeful and optimistic ending (December). This month truly captures the values I seek in friendship, family, work, and school.

And yet, as I reflect back not only on the month but the events of 2012, I begin to realize a couple of significant things.
First, if it weren’t for my friends in January that consoled me to the point beyond belief, I would never be where I am today. And so I thank them, most notably the following people: Bijan, Henry, Michelle, Jessica, Sid, Mimi, Adam, Amy, Rosario, Alex, Manuel, Louise, Tran, Nandhu, Tiffany, Julia, & V Payne.

Secondly, having goals in life are important. It keeps you both motivated and busy, striving towards a better future. My last two quarters at UCSD were relatively calm in terms of workload, due to the fact that I was already complacent in completion of my degrees (with straight A’s I might add).

Thirdly, despite not ever being super close to my family, I recognize the value of it. Having a group of people you can always rely on, whether it be for financial or physiological support is enlightening. For emotional support I’d much rather rely on my friends to get me from place to place. With that said, here are my top 10 for December.

With that all said and done, it’s about time to close this chapter in my life. After this post, calendar updates are a thing of the past. This isn’t so much to do with laziness as it is to do with self progress. The problem with creating calendar updates every month is that it tends to make every day equal in weight of importance, which it clearly is NOT. Some days are more significant than others, and that will be highlighted in Project Morality & Infinity. At the same time, doing calendar updates (much like I did in 2010) kind of forces me to be social EVERY SINGLE DAY, even when I’m not in the mood to do so. Instead of restricting myself, I want to give myself the freedom to do anything I want on a given a day: whether it be socializing or self-reflecting ALONE IN MY ROOM (which just so happens to be the living room). Project Morality will not limit me, but instead encourage me to live my life in a new and productive manner.
And to that, I say farewell. Goodbye 2012, I hardly knew ye.
