Week 11: Tranquility

Being tranquil requires living a life that rejects the usage of anger and aggressive techniques as mechanisms by which to deal with stress and problems that might come up in a typical day.

Simple Methods

Simple methods I have partook in this week to combat potential agitation includes taking my anger out in running, using breathing exercises, and even doing yoga as a mechanism by which to prevent myself from potentially blowing up.

week11

Real Life Examples: Several “incidents” happened this weekend that tested my ability to maintain a tranquil demeanor. Regardless, I was able to deal with A-board rejections, impatience with homework and Internet glitches, as well as dealing with elementary school students rebelling at Lincoln Elementary, and high school students rebelling in detention at Katella High School. In instances where my students didn’t listen, I maintained a calm demeanor and re-emphasized the rules in which make a proper classroom and playground structure. At the same time I tried not to over-exert myself in direct confrontations with people in an attempt to not further agitate problems.

DCON: And of course, this weekend was intercepted by the events of Circle K’s District Convention. I was mildly amused this weekend as we attended various caucuses (reminding me of the Iowa Caucus, kind of), various workshops (not as good as Fall Training Conference), and a thoroughly entertaining talent show and dance. Amidst various problems throughout the weekends and various agitations that might have arisen, I passively dealt with various situations in a manner that would not let my anger out. Instead, I allowed myself breathing room to come to a calmer place and react in a non-confrontational way. As a result, I had a thoroughly entertaining weekend cheering for the officers of my club that won a ton of awards (Congrats to Ann for District Secretary)!

The End Result: I needed to maintain a lifestyle of tranquility, and I did in a manner appropriate for the week. This might have ended up creating some problems though in the long run – avoiding a problem might cause the problem to bottle up in a manner that is more likely to lead to an explosion of emotions and anger later. I will take what I learn from tranquility to try to maintain a calm, respective demeanor, but I will also try to tackle my future problems in both a mature and professional manner. For the week I give myself a B, mostly because I could have done so much more had I not been distracted by a certain District Convention ;).

Next Week: Chastity. Rarely use Venery but for Health or Offspring; Never to Dulness, Weakness, or the Injury of your own or another’s Peace or Reputation.
