Many developments happened this week, but sticking with the topic at hand, I believe determination and perseverance play a major role in shaping the direction of one’s life. Without determination, we wouldn’t have the ability to set goals for ourselves that we strive for on a daily basis. Without perseverance, we wouldn’t put our determined goals to the test and apply them to the world we live in. While determination is largely a conscious process embedded in our heads, perseverance is applying that determination and putting efforts into making those determined goals a reality.

week32

I’m determined to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I persevered by running 4.7 and 5.9 miles respectively this week, and hopefully even more in the future. Half-marathon or marathon perhaps in the future.

I’m determined to have a financially responsible lifestyle. I persevered by not spending nearly that much this week (except maybe on clothes, which I bought in Oregon without any sales tax, and all on sale).

I’m determined to have fun in Oregon. I persevered by overcoming the burdensome process of a delayed flight as well as being in a car for 6+ hours. Hiking, food, and shopping are all important elements of happiness here in Oregon, as well as making wishes on shooting stars.

I’m determined to have a healthy and happy relationship. The only way I can make that work is if I try, by putting in more effort than I had placed in my previous two relationships. Though it’s a work in progress, I am quite optimistic about the future.

I’m determined to work next year, and maintain the proper balance with student teaching. I persevered by accepting an extended stay at Fairmont during the school year, as well as turning in a CSO application at the CSUF police department. Status at the Y to be determined.

I’m determined to connect with my family on a more intimate and personal level. Perhaps I can do so in my time in Oregon, persevering over years of not really talking on a deeper level. I will attempt to do with my parents and other immediate family members when I get back.

I’m determined to maintain happiness. I can only persevere by keeping my morals intact (continuing this project morality – posting today), keeping my relationships intact, and keeping my life in balance.

Grade: A

I end with a poem from Edgar A Post:

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Next Week: Trustworthiness
