Week 47: Nhi, Louise, Leta & Julia

This week’s worth of material started off with the typical work week, hallmarked by an ending in the lovely county of San Diego. With four moral virtues to be tackled from The Children’s Book of Virtues, it was time to represent four great girls named Nhi, Louise, Leta, & Julia.

HonestyNhi

I’m honest with my students, honest with my friends, and honest in the way I choose to carry out my live and actions. In doing so, I try to emulate Nhi who always is upfront and straightforward with her beliefs and her opinions of the world. I hope I can have the audacity and confidence to carry out my honest opinions of the world in all aspects of my life.

Compassionlouise

I exercise compassion wherever I go, not only with friends and students but with the strangers I encounter on a day-to-day basis (as well as the new people I constantly meet). Louise was one of the kindest people I met at UCSD, and because of that, I envision and mimic her compassion when I meet new people and encounter old ones.

letaresponsibility

Being responsible is very important for an aspiring teacher like myself, making lesson plans and working all week as usual. I try to be responsible like Leta who works hard, equally plays hard, and maintains an adequate life in balance. Always making sure to keep your grades high, your heart content, and your workload sufficient to your needs is important for health and safety.

And finally, courage is reflected in the amount of confidence I have in facing new fears, and a new livelihood. Sometimes I can exercise a proper amount of discipline and authority in the classroom, conveying my courage on a day to day basis. But I can use courage as an inspiration from Julia, who is able to speak her mind and say what is on them at her heart’s content. Being blunt is not necessarily always a good thing, but exercising the amount of courage and no-fear no-shame she exerts is a positive value in the world in which we live.

All moral values this week and for the rest of the year are extracted from The Adventures from the Book of Virtues, a children’s animated series based on William J. Bennett’s “The Book of Virtues”, which I continued to read below.
