Week 50: Andy, Neil, Hiep, Theresa & Jerick

With one week to go before winter break, I am literally burnt out. I went bowling on Thursday night and ended up being too exhaust to bowl (for half the time). Working 11 hours a week kind of does that, but I need to persevere one more week before I retire from my two jobs outside of student teaching. To do so I continued to practice 5 unique moral qualities this week.

andyhonor

Maintaining a sense of honor for myself is not only for my legacy but my family’s. Andy has a sense of honor in that he stays true to who he is an individual, and will simply speak out against anything he deems stupid.

neilintegrity

I also needed to maintain integrity this week. Despite being burnt out I needed to still perform to the best of my ability at all three of my job functions. My weekends still encompassed much preparation for the rest of the week as well as 2014. Like Batman, Neil has a ton of integrity in that he stays true to all his duties, responsibilities, and future goals.

hiepgratitude

Despite the stress that overworking can bring, I needed to ground myself in reality to keep myself alive. In doing so, I thought about all the positive things in my life, specifically things that I was grateful for. In doing so, I mimicked Hiep and her ability to be grateful for all the positive things in her life. Sometimes it’s a matter of mind over matter for you to really find true happiness as an individual.

theresaselflessness

I had to realize all my hard work wasn’t necessarily for myself, but for other people as well. Keeping myself grounded in selflessness, I tried to represent Theresa and her uncanny ability to care for all the people in her life in a selfless way from her boyfriend to her family.

And if truly, all these moral qualities didn’t help me get through the week, patience would. If things are too stressful, I can simply wait for them to end or resolve themselves. With one week left, I am patient that this week will fly by smoothly. As my friend Jerick does, he can wait for a long time and still remain happy – wait for his friends, his girlfriend, and his life to progress in the direction he ultimately wants it to go.

Next week: Christian, Elizabeth, Tanya, Amul, & Claire
