How does one acquire an “improved” health? It’s all a matter of effort, and being under the mental mindset that it is indeed possible. I took the “first step” this week towards attainment of a better health. That “step” was in fact 10,000 steps, equalizing to roughly 5 miles a day. Being that it is still the final week of my winter break and I wanted to relax most of the time, I’m relatively proud of myself in being able to do so.

Every day this week I pushed myself towards exercising whenever possible.

On Wednesday I decided to walk to Regals (movie theater)  instead of driving to acquire my 10,000 steps. All measurements were provided by the Fitbit band which I wear.

On Thursday walking around the mall, Target, and H Mart helped me acquire my daily goal. The best part of going places with people is that one can easily acquire steps while simultaneously socializing.

On Friday I went to Mile Square Park to walk around for a bit. When that wasn’t enough to acquire my daily goal, I forced myself to go running at night (which is, in my opinion, the best time to go running).

On Wednesday and Saturday going to the gym really helped my steps (especially since I spend much of my time on the treadmill.) On Saturday in particular I acquired all 10,000 steps before my day even started – running/walking 5 miles at the gym.

On Sunday I walked around the block of orange as well as the Orange circle downtown to acquire 10,000 steps.

In the upcoming weeks I will continue my student teaching – which means there will be plenty of opportunities walking around in the classroom and obtaining my 10,000 steps a day. The next “step” is to exercise for 30 minutes a day while slowly improving my eating habits (that won’t happen overnight though).
