Day 14: The Sound of Silence

And thus begins the first day of semester exams, except this time I’m not taking them! This means for the next three days I only have to deal with kids for 3 hours.

Subsequently, it is the sound of silence I hear mostly as they are testing.

The song has many meanings, but I think it best fits Plato’s allegory of the cave.

allegoryofcave

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
