Day 45: Fast Car

There’s something about music that can capture a feeling you can’t really quite put in words. Fast Car is a quintessential love song that can capture a whole range of human emotions.

Tracy Chapman creates a love story with an introduction, middle, and ending. It’s seemingly the story of a woman who places so much hope in a relationship that ends up being bad for her. The symbol of hope for a better future is a “Fast Car” to help her escape her problems. Sadly, the other person is short of expectations, the narrator having to ultimately let him go singing “So take your fast car and keep on driving”.

Last year I made the same mistake as Chapman, putting my hope in something that essentially was a pipedream. It’s okay though, cause I’m pretty sure the heavens are smiling at me from above (courtesy of the Hubble Telescope).

I celebrated today in the form of errands and doing things I genuinely love. Pizza + Skype + Netflix 🙂

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so you can fly away
You gotta make a decision
Leave tonight or live and die this way
