This song is bound to make everyone sad. At the same time, it makes you appreciate what you have in the world. I have played two videos for students that created emotional responses about the Rape of Nanking and the Holocaust that had this song embedded in it. What many people don’t know is that this song is actually a cover of an inappropriately upbeat Tears for Fears song.
Today’s Mad World comprised of not seeing about half of my students due to the fact that they went to a “concert” to practice the entire day. In the evening I saw the second half of the students voluntarily watching them perform at the Smith Center. It was sad that only 5 teachers out of 60 went to support the students however.
On a sidenote, I wish students went in asking what the lesson was.
I saw all 4 hours of band, orchestra, guitar, and choir.
The Mad World will continue on.
