Day 278: Mockingbird

I felt like quite a Mockingbird today escorting a flock of Blue Devils to MacArthur park, for a brief “field trip”. We went there for the sole purpose of celebrating the achievements of the higher-end students at the first Scholar’s Assembly of the Year! Here’s my homeroom students:

No blog post would be complete of course without a picture celebrating the wonderful 8th grade scholars from various homerooms!

As I notice the amount of workload being pushed onto various teachers at my school, I feel the need to bring it up to the upper end of the administration. I will fulfill my somewhat fatherly role in protecting the rest of the first year teachers at Rise in whatever way I can, without of course overstepping my bounds. I hope nobody cries in the process.

Now hush little baby, don’t you cry
Everything’s gonna be alright
Stiffen that upper lip up, little lady, I told ya
Daddy’s here to hold ya through the night
I know mommy’s not here right now and we don’t know why
We feel how we feel inside
It may seem a little crazy, pretty baby
But I promise mama’s gon’ be alright
