Nothing reminds me of science more than the Nova Theme Song. It’s such a whimsical introduction, and it perfectly encapsulated the mood of the science engagement night. As a subject, I would argue that science is a very hands on subject.
Science engagement night also brought out way more parents, because it was obviously run by the teacher of the year Sam Choi. Thank you to the other geniuses Laura and Colin for making things super exciting for parents as they engaged in actual hands on science experiments.
Anyway, the day also entailed observing the new teacher of the year Eugene Hahn present an expertise analysis of a Star Wars: Episode 7 Clip in class. No, he did not break Copyright Law.
The true highlight of the day was of course confiscating 5 Tech Decks from random students, and then $40 from a student for simply having it out. Later, he asked for it back at the end of the day. I asked him if I could have some money for Yogurtland, to which he suggested I have 5 dollars. I asked for 10, which he quickly surrendered to me. I then took two colleagues, one I like, and one I hate to Yogurtland.
Yay. If I get free money from my worst student, then I must be doing something right. Now the next step is of course getting him to apply himself and actually do work.
