Day 4: Amul Shah

The best roommate I have ever had (Sorry Jackie, Howard, Jonathan Chou, & Tyler), is Amul Shah. Why? He has all the quintessential qualities I would ever want in a human being. He is compassionate, an excellent listener, and I don’t think I have ever seen him get angry EVER IN MY LIFE. And despite him being miles and miles away, the ability to keep in touch is super easy (especially when he’s so willing to drive to Garden Grove from Riverside). Despite the long history from UCSD to present, and the different social groups we were in, the friendship has definitely been maintained.

  1. We met in Programming at Warren, and that was one of the best clubs I was ever in, where we planned random events for Warren College. In an election for a random ICRA position, he was okay with me taking the job over him, which was nice. When our PAW Clique developed, he was always the nice and reasonable one in the group willing to do anything to accommodate everyone.
  2. In ICRA, Amul was always by my side (especially throughout all the drama with the President and the expectations of the club). Regardless of the events (I hated that Pirates movie), it was almost always fun to hang out with him from start to finish.

I’ll never quite forget how powerful the ICRA Clique was, and all the boardgames we played (and subsequent study sessions we had).
  3. Despite no longer living or in clubs together, we have maintained continued contact since his graduation in 2011. And I imagine we will remain friends long after we grow old, and will be friends for life.

I am glad to have had Amul grace my presence with his. And no matter where his future takes him, whether medical or not, he will always be seen as a successful person in my eyes based on his mannerisms, behavior, and overall carefree spirit, while still caring for the rest of the world at large. #26reasonswhy
