Day 18: George Tello

Who is George Tello, you may ask? The best damn taxi driver I have ever seen in my life.

In all seriousness, George represents the epitome of kindness in a world plagued by darkness and corrupt, evil forces. It was thanks to his warm character that he was able to assimilate (quite easily, I might add) into the Asian cliques that we had at Rancho Alamitos High School.

Without him, my high school club the Volunteers of Orange County wouldn’t have been nearly as successful. I remember having to call him at 7AM in the morning one time on a Saturday, and him being very irritated. He, fortunately, came to save the day, as I knew he would.

In addition to his driving talents, he is just an easy-going person to hang out with, which is why I can continue to play boardgames, watch movies, and do a variety of different activities with him over the years.

I remember the time we went to the movies in high school, and being that I didn’t get out much at that time in life, it was nice to illegally theater hop from movie to movie. I also will never forget the time we worked at the OC Fair together, distributing newspapers. Somehow we got paid an obscene amount of money when we almost always ended up giving up working after 15 minutes and buying the newspapers ourselves (they cost about 50 cents each). I also remember Flower Girl, and my desperate attempt to ask her for her facebook at the time.

I won’t forget the songs we played on the car rides to work, which included of course Jack Johnson’s “Upside Down”, and how George helped me buy OC Fair tickets so I could give my crush at the time free tickets. Oh man, I was such a kid back then, hoping to buy my way through love.

Anyway, we’ll be in contact long after we grow old, I hope. Thanks for being awesome. #26reasonswhy
