Day 3: All Things Bright and Beautiful

I saw some bright and beautiful things today.

I saw the face of terror and dread on the incoming 7th graders’ eyes as I scared the cajoles out of them.

A student asked for a tissue. I said THERE ARE NO TISSUES.

A student asked how long is a paragraph supposed to be. I said HOW LONG IS A PARAGRAPH SUPPOSED TO BE?!

A student asked if they had to do the exit slip of writing a question for me. I said YES, TO NEVER TALK BACK AGAIN, and HELD the student for FIVE MINUTES.

Anytime a kid made a lick of noise, whether it was a drop of a pencil, a sneeze, or a cough, I stared down them with vicious eyes.

The trick worked, because all the students went back to their 6th grade teachers terrified.

And that truly is a bright and a beautiful thing.

For dinner, there was a celebration for the new teacher development program! My credential is now officially cleared! No BTSA needed! Thank god. We got plants a gift, which is kind of lame, but whatever.

My mentor also graded me, which was also bright and beautiful.

T-MINUS 6 DAYS TILL SUMMER OFFICIALLY STARTS.
