Day 3: Laguna Beach

Today I went to Laguna Beach – otherwise known on television as the real Orange County.

Anyway, I’m not too fond of beaches for 2 very specific reasons: ie getting lost for 3 hours looking for my friends birthday at 16 and breaking my iPod after being lured in the water by a vixen crush. Regardless of those experiences, my beach adventures have dramatically improved, even if I always feel instantly disgusted and in need of a shower the minute I step onto the shores.

America turns 241 years of age today, and as imperfect as it was in its inception, it has transformed itself to an exceptional nation worthy of celebrating.

At Laguna Beach, we celebrated this fine occasion through a beach adventure that intertwined three specific elements: 1) time with family 2) eating BBQ and other Vietnamese dishes and 3) fireworks. Because really, what kind of New Years would it be without fireworks?

We also encountered police behind my niece and nephew interrogating a drunk man on the beach. That was funny, but they found no drugs on him so they let him go.

As most Beach adventures go, this was mostly a pleasant one – until of course my brother’s car went missing, sending us in a dramatic tailspin the rest of the night. Of course, it was actually my drunk brother in law that couldn’t find the car, it was there all along, and so the night ended peacefully, with synchronized fireworks and all.
My flight is in a few hours.
