Kindergarten was probably equally as bad as pre-school in terms of my academic performance. They don’t really evaluate you based on “intelligence” or anything of the sort at that age, but more-so on behaviors and mannerisms and ability to conform.

Conform, I certainly did not. Instead opting to cry, and give my teacher Mr. Brown a hard time the entire year. So sad.

My favorite part of Kindergarten was getting ice cream every Friday. Funny that that’s the only thing I remember. Mr. Brown was a good teacher too, and I regret giving him a hard time, although I wasn’t really in control of my own senses at the time.

You’d think based on the picture below I would have been a mega-nerd. That was in the confines of my own apartment though, and clearly things changed by the time I got to school.

At least I succeeded though, as depressing as that might have been to achieve. Do they even hold anybody back in Kindergarten though? I doubt it.

I remember this one time when 2 girls were chasing me around, and I just happened to get scared. I was so morbidly afraid of girls at the time. And I had no idea why. It must have been the large cootie outbreak of the 90’s everyone was up in arms about. So I decided to “faint”, so I laid on the grass as they chased me. I must have been really tired at the time, so I fell asleep. Ouch. When I woke up, I was in a hospital. Turns out, they took me to the nurse (who thought I fainted… sigh), so they took me to the hospital (where I was hooked up to more stuff). I woke up and was ready to leave. That included a hefty hospital fine, which I plan to pay my parents back in due time, as soon as I have a decent career & paycheck. That story pretty much tells you the failure of the American healthcare system in a nutshell. How a nurse and doctor couldn’t simply tell that I fell asleep is beyond my understanding.

I’m positive that around this time my fascination with the television series the Simpsons came to fruition. I used to watch it twice (all the reruns) a day every day all the way up to middle school. It was great. I also won’t quite forget the memories of going home from school and watching either Kids WB or Fox Kids, sadly no longer in syndication on weeknights. Our poor. Deprived. Children. But I guess they have the Internet now, so that’s cool.

The top movie of the year was Independence Day. Meh. The top song of the year was Macarena, and I most definitely remember the phase of everybody dancing to that stupid song. Good times.
