Day 3: Mr. Ritchie

The white saga of teachers continues with none other than my Ke$ha concert buddy, Ryan Ritchie. He was literally one of the first teachers I met at the school, and he might not remember, but he had the chance to observe me teach with Eliza on the day I was interviewed. We also had a quick interview in the principal’s office, where the former PE teacher pretty much told me that the school was kinda janky, having to walk kids to the park everyday. Oh well. I came anyway.

Luckily, we have been able to create a bond that surpasses the death of Nathaniel Hanna from our school.

From book clubs to happy hours to giving me advice during Holiday Parties to everything in between, we have kept our friendship alive through concerts, memories, and being shell shocked from everything they throw at us at this school. Even through all the political turmoil and discourse and debate (which there have been plenty of), we both essentially want what’s better for the world at the end of the day. Let’s not forget the stupid LEL to Captain America: Civil War I took my first year working there.

Of course, true memories come in the form of Phil’s BBQ. I don’t consider anyone a friend until they go with me there, and I am glad he left his terrible vegetarian diet to embrace a man’s diet of meat and protein.

At the end of the day, as much as the school makes me sweat with disgust at times, I am glad he is my department lead and will steer the ship of history from sinking. Here’s hoping his entire history department doesn’t abandon him by the end of the year.

PD was the best today because of you. Duh.
