Day 16: Ms. Chaka-Khan

Another great asset in the classroom I have met thus far in my life comes in an Indian format, specifically that of the militant vegetarian type. And even though there are plenty of shortcomings in how she is unable to fix certain problematic children, she largely cares about the kids she works with, and is always striving to make their lives better. Largely opposite from my goals as a teacher.

Of the 99 books my homeroom has obtained this year, she has probably contributed to about 5%. For a young and inexperienced teacher like herself, I would surely think that is a success.

We have engaged in various extracurricular activities outside of school, most notably a paint session that resulted in much gossip around the workplace. Much unneeded gossip. But that will almost certainly always happen with the amount of losers that we surround ourselves with on a daily basis, who are no worse than the students when it comes to that kind of thing.

Anyway, even though she’s technically not a teacher, I have no doubts she will make children’s lives happy in elementary school, as well as continue to strive to help the “special” children inside of the classroom. Mostly to prevent schools from being sued, but probably not going to help them in the long run when they become adults, because there’s no real equity in the real world.

Props to her though for everything she has done to contribute to our school, taking over BLC last year, and this year making the switch from 6th to 7th grade without a complaint in the world. As a San Diego native myself, I’m glad that we were able to understand the beauty that is in everything San Diego. Including of course, Phil’s BBQ.

Keep pushing in. And keep pushing out. And one day, a ugly child will be pushed out. Happy ending for everyone.
