Day 15: Digestive System

Today might have been a special day, based on the amount of caloric food intake, but how the hell should I know? I’m just a dumb digestive system.

  1. The mouth and salivary glands helped to break down food. What kind of food? Well, for starters, some Vietnamese food (in the form of Vermicelli noodles), and then some Korean BBQ for dinner. The teeth broke it down.
  2. Muscles in the esophagus helped push the food down. Shove it down is the more likely term.
  3. The stomach broke the bits of Korean BBQ and other substances into various pieces.
  4. The pancreas helped to break down the proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.
  5. Nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine.
  6. The food then goes to the large intestine, and eventually into the rectum, where it will dispensed out of my system accordingly.

Here’s a diagram if you were confused:

My stomach was definitely churning Jigsaw, the 8th film in the Saw franchise. As ridiculous as it was, it was funny.
