It’s very easy to lose at a talent competition.
All you have to do is suck.
Or have no natural talent.
Luckily for my students as we descended upon the gates of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium to witness the latest season of America’s Got Talent auditions, literally no contestants got any X’es. Which was unfortunate. Because as much as I like to see talent, I equally like to see various forms of failures to entertain myself. That being said, it was a grand old time enjoyed by many old and young.

It wasn’t really a new experience, but in a way it kind of was. Last year when we went we suffered through many terrible auditions which included a dog that knew how to count. Luckily we were blessed with more fortunate auditions this year.
At the same time, I don’t think we saw any acts that will end up winning the competition. At the same time, I’m happy to have exposed this experience to many of my students who live in bad socio-economic conditions. I only wish my teacher would have given me the same experiences when I was a kid.
