Since my inception into this world, I have always been a failure in terms of all athletic efforts pursued throughout the course of my life.
In 3rd grade, I played a little bit of soccer with fellow other students, but then a teacher told us “NO, THAT SPORT IS FOR 6TH GRADERS ONLY.” From that point forward, I never played soccer again… until of course years later when I was coerced into coaching a losing soccer team at Cram Middle School. Our season was 3-2-5, which doesn’t sound that bad actually.

As a result of me not really enjoying playing sports (other than four-square and handball in elementary school), I never enjoyed watching sports on television either. As boring as life was before the Internet and only with a few select options of what to watch on television, I still could not succumb myself to watching random sports that played on television on a day-by-day basis.
That kind of attitude translated into my high school years where I occasionally got hit in the groin area by various balls (soccer, basketball, etc.), and never the first to be chosen in any schoolyard pick.

That being said, as I went through the new experience of watching a beach volleyball college tournament, I wished I had delved more into that area of playing sports. Though I’m not too athletically inclined, I am hoping I will be able to play more sports in the future, and acquire beach bodies similar to the ladies you see in the picture above.
The real key to failing at sports is not trying. Like anything in life, if you invest more time and energy into improving a certain craft, you’ll naturally get better in no time. Though I was not motivated to improve athletically in the past, I now regret that shortcoming as my life adventure continues.
