“WE Day is an unparalleled celebration of young people committed to making a difference. WE Schools is the yearlong program that nurtures compassion in young people and gives them the tools to create change in their local and global communities.”
What does that mean? Students from all over California come to celebrate a year full of community service projects and embrace their ability to potentially make the world a better place. In hoping to instill civic virtues and community service in my students, we engaged in the following community service projects this year to gain our spot.
#1: Packaging School Supplies for Low-Income Families

In addition to local community service projects, our global project this year was to raise $1000 for clean water for children in other countries. Together, we were able to provide clean water for life for 40 kids.
The celebration itself was well worth it, despite being 2 hours late. Oh well. Celebrities seen include Selena Gomez, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Chainsmokers, Jennifer Aniston, & a bunch of Youtube stars I’ve never heard of. I hope at the end of the day students will use the memories and inspirational speeches from WE Day to continue to make the world a better place long after they leave middle school.
