Being a dad couldn’t possibly be that hard, right? Especially with all the technology nowadays easily able to capture the attention span of a kid allowing for the parent to effectively neglect their child.

I felt a little burst of joy as I pushed my nephew around Target as he watched “The Wheels on the Bus” videos on Youtube. If parenting is that easy, than sign me up (I’d have to find a wife first).
Unfortunately, it probably isn’t that easy.
What if your kid ends up turning out evil, or a jerk? Jordan Peterson give good advice on the matter – “Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them.” Of course, that’s easier said than done. Being too strict or loose on the rules might create problems that can systematically shape the child for life.
I would absolutely hate the diaper changing and the process of training a baby like a dog. I’m only good at communicating with middle school students (and not even adults). I watched 6 girls breakdown and cry in my classroom this week, and as despairing as that was, I wasn’t really able to help fix their problems. Even so, they are so easily influenced by others around them that sometimes it’s hard to shape their world views. What if they lie to you, or worse… become a corrupt piece of scum in a society full of corrupt pieces of scum? That being said, I think I would get a kick of creating a miniature sarcastic version of myself.
Someday perhaps. Before I can even become a “dad”, I better take better care of myself, my students, and my Pokemon for practice.
