Day 17: Betsy Diaz’s Harry Potter Houses

Betsy Diaz and I used to have many, many conversations, mostly stemming from our discontent our first year at Rise. And though we have drifted farther and farther away because of our classrooms being geographically distant and our grade levels being different (although hopefully that will change next year), I always feel comfortable going to her for a check in.

Today was no exception as I just walked in her door and had a casual conversation. The highlight was of course her telling me she was a Ravenclaw and forcing me to take a Harry Potter house personality test.

Based on the Pottermore website “Ravenclaws prize wit, learning, and wisdom.” Betsy has almost always been a lifelong learner, and a lifelong dreamer. I hope she achieves all of her dreams and continues mentoring, teaching, and being an amazing person all around.

I scored Gryffindor on the test myself, and I would say I’m courageous only about half the time in life, so hopefully I can bring out my inner Gryffindor as I continue to work on self improvement this year.

Here’s to hoping I continue to check in even though her classroom is so far away.
