Happy President’s Day. Apparently throughout our nation’s history, seven US Presidents suffered from depression – namely Lincoln, Jefferson, John Adams, Madison, Pierce, John Quincy Adams, and Coolidge. It’s a stressful job for sure so I imagine their depression stemmed from the struggles of the presidency. That being said, every now and then, other normal humans without power like myself can get depressed for whatever reason. And so, instead of indulging in anti-depressant pills, Jessica has a list of suggestions of what to do if such scenarios hit.
- Get a pet. Easier said than done. It’s hard enough taking care of a pet, how would I take care of a dog?!
- Get a girlfriend. Perhaps even harder than a dog.
- Hang out with friends. This is a given, and this is kind of fun but can be a pretty temporary fix to something that might be permanent.
- Keep yourself busy. Yes.
- Exercise. I think this actually was the key ingredient I’ve been missing in the past couple of weeks. Because of this advice, I went ahead and ran 10 miles and feel slightly better now.
Thanks Jessica. You’re well on your way to becoming a nurse and fixing everyone else’s problems.
