I like to foster in my students a sense that they can help make the world a better place. Even though they are young, they can still be advocates for their community and strive to do whatever they can to help others. Though it’s not nearly as involved as the Builder’s Club at my previous school (I have yet to do any off-site community service projects), the Builder’s Club I started at Dale is starting off strong with roughly 30 members! So far this year we have cleaned a ton of classrooms and buildings around campus, including even the disgusting locker rooms. Today we did a little bit more manual labor in the form of starting the re-design process for one of the rectangular garden planters by scooping up the dirt to the middle. I helped out for a bit, which obviously resulted in me burning a ton of calories.

In return, the child laborers got some delicious to carrots to take home. It was quite a workout, so they deserve some reward at least.
