Saw The Outsiders at La Jolla Playhouse. It’s been a while since I’ve watched a musical or been on the UCSD campus so it was nice revisiting the past for a bit.
The musical itself is based on the novel of the same name written by S.E Hilton. I’m not sure the tone of the musical lined up with the tone of the book but I’ll probably have to go back and re-read it. Although I’m pretty sure I never read the book in my middle school days. Not required reading in Garbage Grove Unified apparently. I don’t think a musical is the best format for the story.
I liked the musical overall because it reminded me of Glee. It was a solid 3/5, and I’m positive I liked it more than Katherine, with Karl liking it more than me.
