I have a very selective palatte when it comes to consuming food. In other words I am a very picky eater. They say that the foods you eat as a child often translate into what you will eat as an adult. My mom used to recook me eggs whenever I refused to eat whatever meal she made for dinner due to this selectivity, which she delivered to my room personally after I slammed the door in anger. What a stubborn child I was.
And so, my diet is still relatively restricted. Which makes sense – because I avoided seafood like the plague when I was a child. The few times I ate it I actually did throw up or get hives. That might have been a psychological reaction (the placebo effect) more so than anything else. Because when I actually got tested for allergies a few years ago I found out the only seafood I was actually allergic to was scallops.
And yet, whenever confronted with the option to consume seafood, like in the image below today with Katherine, I still manage to find a way to avoid it. I guess old habits die hard.

That’s not to say I’ve completely written off trying new foods and things though. In the past few years I’ve slowly started eating more sushi, which I suppose is a step forward in the eating department. Here’s hoping my palatte continues to grow in the years to come, and Phil’s BBQ continues to be an essential staple of my diet.
